How often should I service my boiler?
Every 12 months. This is required by all major manufacturers to keep your warranty valid. You can book up to 2 months early without losing your annual date.
Will I lose my warranty if I miss a service?
Yes — most manufacturers including Vaillant and Worcester Bosch require an annual service by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If you miss one, your warranty may be voided.
When should I get a full stripdown?
We recommend a full stripdown service every 5 years. This replaces wear-and-tear parts like electrodes and gaskets before they fail, and a deep heat exchanger clean restores your boiler’s efficiency. It’s significantly cheaper than an emergency repair caused by worn parts.
How long does a boiler service take?
A standard service takes around 45 minutes. A full stripdown takes 1.5 to 2 hours depending on the boiler model and condition.
Can I combine a boiler service with a gas safety check?
Yes — we offer a combined boiler service and landlord gas safety certificate (CP12) for £120. This saves you money and means we only need to visit once.

What happens if I don’t service my boiler?
An unserviced boiler can become dangerous — it increases the risk of carbon monoxide leaks, which kills around 60 people in the UK every year. Beyond safety, your boiler becomes less efficient (higher energy bills), parts wear out faster (leading to expensive breakdowns), and your manufacturer warranty will be voided. My boiler hasn’t been serviced for 5 years — what should I do?
Book a full stripdown service rather than a standard one. After 5 years without servicing, internal parts like electrodes, gaskets and seals will be worn, and sludge may have built up in the heat exchanger. Is a boiler service the same as a gas safety check?
No — they’re different. A gas safety check (CP12) is a legal inspection that checks all gas appliances are safe to use. A boiler service goes deeper — it includes cleaning, adjusting and testing internal components to keep your boiler running efficiently. Landlords need both. We offer a combined service and CP12 for £120.
Can I service my own boiler?
No. By law, only a Gas Safe registered engineer can work on gas appliances in the UK. Attempting to service your own boiler is illegal and extremely dangerous. It will also invalidate your warranty and home insurance. Always use a qualified engineer — you can verify ours on the Gas Safe Register (No. 939043).
