Smart Thermostat Brands We Fit
We fit all the major brands, so we can recommend the control that suits your boiler, your heating system and your budget — not just the one we happen to stock.
Honeywell Home
Well-known programmable and smart thermostats from a long-established heating controls brand. Simple to use, and a popular like-for-like upgrade for an old dial thermostat.
Hive
Smart thermostat with app control and scheduling from your phone, plus a wireless receiver that connects to your boiler. We fit and set up the thermostat and receiver together.
tado°
Smart thermostats with app control, with the option of smart radiator thermostats for room-by-room temperature control.
ESI Controls
Dependable programmable room thermostats and timer controls. A good choice if you want something straightforward that just works.
Salus
Wireless programmable thermostats and smart controls, including multi-zone set-ups where different areas of the home need different heating.
Heatmiser
Smart and programmable thermostats, including controls for multi-zone and underfloor heating systems.

Smart, Programmable or Basic: Which Do You Need?
The right control depends on how you live and what your heating system can do. Here is the plain-English version.
Smart Thermostat
Controlled from an app on your phone. Change the temperature or the schedule from anywhere, turn the heating on before you get home, and get clear control of your heating and hot water. Needs home Wi-Fi.
Programmable Thermostat
You set a weekly schedule on the thermostat itself. Heating comes on and off at the times you choose and holds the temperature you want. No Wi-Fi or app required.
Basic Thermostat
A simple dial that switches the heating on and off at a set temperature. Cheap and simple, but it can’t follow a schedule, so you rely on a separate timer or switching it on by hand.
Is Your Heating Control Holding You Back?
Many South West London homes still have the original thermostat and timer. If any of these sound familiar, a new control is worth considering.
An old timer that drifts, or one nobody understands, means heating when nobody is home and cold mornings when you want it warm.
Running late, away for the weekend or home early. Without app control, you either leave the heating on or come back to a cold house.
A faulty thermostat can leave the house too hot or too cold and the boiler running more than it should.
A basic dial can’t follow your week. A programmable or smart control puts the heating on your schedule.
If you can’t set hot water and heating independently, you may be heating water you don’t need or missing it when you do.
Multi-zone controls and smart radiator thermostats give you separate control of different areas of the home.

What Happens on the Day
A clear, step-by-step account of how we fit every thermostat and heating control.
Check Your Boiler & Existing Controls
We look at your boiler, the existing thermostat, timer and wiring to confirm what will work, and recommend a control to match.
Isolate & Remove the Old Control
The power to the heating is safely isolated and the old thermostat or timer is removed, with the wiring checked and left tidy.
Fit the New Thermostat & Receiver
The new thermostat is fitted at a sensible position on the wall. If it’s a smart or wireless control, the receiver is wired in next to the boiler or controls.
Connect, Pair & Set Up
The thermostat and receiver are paired and, for a smart control, connected to your Wi-Fi and the app on your phone.
Set Your Schedule
We set the heating and hot water schedule with you so it matches how you actually live, rather than leaving it on factory defaults.
Test & Show You How It Works
We test that the heating and hot water respond correctly, then walk you through the control and the app before we leave.

Smart Thermostat Installation FAQs
Common questions from South West London homeowners.
Will a smart thermostat work with my boiler?
In most cases, yes. Smart thermostats from Hive, tado°, Honeywell Home and others work with the majority of gas boilers, but the wiring and the boiler’s controls decide exactly what is possible. Some smart thermostats can also talk to a modern boiler using OpenTherm, which lets the boiler adjust its output rather than just switching on and off, but that depends on your boiler. We check your boiler and existing controls before we recommend anything.
Which is best: Hive, Honeywell, tado°, ESI, Salus or Heatmiser?
There isn’t one best option for everyone. Hive and tado° are popular for app control and scheduling from your phone. Honeywell Home and ESI are a good fit if you want something simple and dependable. Salus and Heatmiser are strong choices where you want several zones, for example separate upstairs and downstairs heating or underfloor heating. We recommend based on your boiler, your heating system and how you actually use your heating.
Do I need Wi-Fi for a smart thermostat?
Yes. A smart thermostat needs your home Wi-Fi to connect to the app and to run its schedule and features. A standard programmable thermostat doesn’t need Wi-Fi at all. If your broadband is unreliable, a programmable thermostat can be the more dependable choice.
How long does it take to fit a thermostat?
A straightforward like-for-like replacement is usually a short job. A smart thermostat with a wireless receiver takes a bit longer because we also set up the app and test the heating and hot water. Multi-zone systems, or a house with old wiring that needs sorting, take longer. We’ll give you a realistic time when we quote.
Can you fit a thermostat I have already bought?
Yes. If you have already bought one, we’re happy to fit it. It’s worth checking with us before you buy, because not every smart thermostat suits every boiler and wiring set-up, and we can tell you whether the one you’ve chosen will work.
Will a smart thermostat save me money?
It can help, because you heat your home only when you need to and can turn the heating down or off when you’re out. How much you save depends on how you use your heating now, so we don’t promise a figure. Used properly, smart controls give you much better control of when and how much you heat.
How much does smart thermostat installation cost?
Our thermostat and heating controls installation starts from £85. The final price depends on the type of control, whether it needs a wireless receiver, the wiring involved and whether you have more than one zone. We give you a clear price before any work starts.
